Liz & Eric

The Vision

Liz and Eric had a very specific vision for their wedding day: they wanted their "late summer verging on autumn" nuptials to be highlighted by designs that felt modern, colorful, and unique while still complimenting the Alaskan landscape.

From Liz's whimsical bouquet, to the show-stopping  ceremony installation, to a cake table decked out in flowers, these florals perfectly reflected Liz & Eric's playful, light-hearted personalities.

DESIGN aesthetic & INSPIRATION

  • Modern, architectural design
  • Late-summer abundance of color
  • Highlighting unique blooms & textures

When Liz initially shared her vision for her bouquet, she felt strongly about highlighting a more architectural design with a mix of modern and textural elements. She shared that she loves orchids and hanging amaranth, and I was so excited to bring her dream bouquet to life!

This style of bouquet is one of my favorites to execute, as it really leans into utilizing unique ingredients with a focus on movement. I loved being able to combine locally sourced florals like cosmos, larkspur, dahlias, and phlox with more elevated ingredients like spotted phalaenopsis and orange dendrobium orchids. Topped with a mossy green silk ribbon, this bouquet felt like perfection.

Eric's classic boutonniere featured orange ranunculus, phlox, and other textural ingredients that paired beautifully with Liz's bouquet!

Personal Florals

One of my favorite parts of designing Liz and Eric's wedding florals was putting together their wedding party florals!

Liz wanted to make sure her sisters' florals felt distinctly different from her own while still tying into the overall asthetic of the day. We ended up leaning into another more modern trend and went with monochromatic white bouquets composed exclusively of local cosmos and baby's breath. I love how they complimented Liz's dress and looked like floaty, butterfly-like clouds as they were carried down the aisle.

Eric's brothers, on the other hand, wore boutonnieres that matched his perfectly, mimicking his own in color and ingredients and tying the whole wedding party together!

Wedding Party

Staying in line with their modern aesthetic, Liz and Eric chose to opt for an epic pillared floral installation as the feature moment of their ceremony space. Draping, movement-filled florals were placed on top and at the base of four sleek, white concrete pillars. Hanging amaranth, luxurious orchids, and playful allium all added to these arrangements. This design created an impactful space for them to say their "I dos" without obstructing the stunning lake and mountain views at The Inn at Tern Lake.

Two grounded arrangements were also placed at the entrance of the aisle to greet guests as they entered the ceremony space. I really feel that these small moments help to bring the larger moment together!

Ceremony Florals

For the couple's intimate dinner shared with their closest friends and family, they chose to feature a tablescape overflowing with candles and florals.

A combination of traditional centerpieces, budvases, pillar candles, and tea lights created dynamic movement and depth down the entire length of the table.

Perhaps my most favorite part of their reception though was their cake! We collaborated with Midnight Sun Cakery to bring to life a unique cake with live florals pressed into the frosting.  With the cake set against the backdrop of a floral "cake meadow," their dessert was certainly a highlight of their reception.
