Shannon & Gabe

The Vision

Traveling north from their home state of Colorado, Shannon & Gabe hoped for a wedding day that felt intimate, romantic, and whimsical, bringing together the best that Alaska has to offer. I think we accomplished that and more with the addition of unique floral installations, lush tablescapes, and lively but muted colors to their AK Diamond J Ranch celebration in Homer. Their warm, sunshine-soaked early summer wedding is what every couple dreams of when they think "Alaskan wedding."

DESIGN aesthetic & INSPIRATION

  • Elevated and lush florals
  • Relaxed garden party
  • Early summer muted hues

Not wanting to overpower her bridal look, Shannon expressed a desire for a mid-sized bouquet that perfectly balanced color and texture while complimenting the floral appliqués on her wedding dress.

Utilizing some of the earliest peonies of the season, locally foraged lilac, and roses, dahlias, and foxglove sourced from West Coast farms, we were able to combine a dreamy fix of late spring and early summer florals that captured the whimsical, elegant aesthetic Shannon was dreaming of. Let's also take a moment to appreciate the show-stopping lavender and botanical-print ribbons that perfectly tied off the bouquet.

Gabe chose to go boutonniere-less, keeping his look simple and refined.

Personal Florals

Opting for jewel-toned dresses for the wedding day, Shannon's wedding party members carried bouquets that remained light and airy, complimenting her own in color and design.

We knew that smaller, movement-filled bouquets would help lighten each bridesmaid's look rather than weighing them down with larger bouquets. We were also able to incorporate colors that still coordinated with the rest of the wedding floral designs while accenting the darker, more regal tones found in each dress.

Wedding Party

When Shannon & Gabe first inquired about florals, one of the things the shared they were most excited about was their ceremony florals.

Shannon had a beautiful vision of wanting to walk down an aisle that was brimming with florals. We decided to create a series of grounded aisle arrangements that lined the chairs guests would be seated in, packing a punch with regards to color and whimsy.

The focal point of the ceremony however, was the arch installation. We went full-scale with a large arch that was dripping in blooming lilac, peonies, roses and more. Not only did this show-stopping design create the perfect backdrop for the couple, but the scents of these florals created a forever memory they can hold onto well beyond their wedding day.

Ceremony Florals

Not ones to skip out on adding a touch of floral romance to the cocktail hour and reception, we worked with Shannon, Gabe, and their amazing team of vendors to craft an absolutely breathtaking tablescape adorned with luscious centerpieces, playful budvases, and candles of varying shapes and sizes.

We love that the combination of centerpieces and budvases allowed for the couple to still have the family-style meal they had dreamed of, while still having the table feel loaded with florals and candlelight.

Not lost on us was the opportunity to relocate as many of the ceremony florals as possible. The grounded arrangements that had lined the aisle were placed along the reception tables and the indoor bar to be enjoyed by guests as they moved to the barn to dance the night away.
